When you visit Dublin – you will want to make sure that you check out Temple Bar. This district is home to a large collection of Irish pubs and restaurants that give you an excellent taste of what you can expect throughout the Emerald isle. Music fans will love Temple Bar because it has live music every night of the week – coming from so many doorways that we stopped counting. This place is also a real treat for anyone who loves a pint or two as you can sample beers from around the world – all you have to do is just pick your “poison”. Although we loved every pub we visited – we whittled it down to three pubs that we can honestly qualify as must see for any visitor to Temple Bar.
Our first must see pub is Gogarty’s. When we visited Gogarty’s – we got there on a day when Ireland was facing off against Sweden in a soccer qualifier at Aviva Stadium. The place was jammed with Swedes and locals and the atmosphere was simply amazing. This Tweet from a Gogarty’s fan is priceless. As he says in the Tweet – you might only go in for one pint but in fact you will probably stay for a lot more. There are happy faces everywhere at Gogarty’s so enjoy your visit.

Our second must see pub is Merchant’s Pub. This review of Merchant’s Arch is pretty typical.
Just click on the link to Yelp (in this story) and you will see that everyone loves this Temple Bar landmark. This pub is smaller than most pubs you would find in America. It is cozy and it really gets hopping when the crowd gets into the performance. When we visited – the music was mostly Irish Traditional so get ready to be versed in the best music that Ireland has to offer. We were lucky enough to eat at Merchant’s Arch – so we can report that the pub food at Merchant’s is excellent and it won’t break the bank (cost wise).

Our last must see pub is The Old Storehouse. The Old Storehouse is very popular landmark for tourist to the Irish capital. Located in the heart of Temple Bar – The Old Storehouse welcomes people from all over the world. As you can see in the Tweet below they come to The Old Storehouse from us far away as Norway. When we visited the pub we found the music to be awesome and the staff to be extremely friendly. The musician performing for us mixed Irish Traditional classic with pop tunes from Irish heavyweights like U2.
